Valero Energy Corp (NYSE: VLO), the largest petroleum refiner in the US, is among ZeaChem investors. Zeachem Produces Ethanol - Ethyl Acetate C2 Chain Product.

Bill Day (bill.day@valero.com) a spokesman for Valero Energy, says the company was attracted to Mission NewEnergy because the Jatropha Curcuas plant holds a lot of promise in the biofuel industry as it is considered to be a highly renewable resource.

James Garton (james@missionnewenergy.com) president of Mission USA and head of corporate finance for Mission NewEnergy Limited, says he has signed a five-year supply agreement with San Antonio based Valero Energy Corp.

Valero has agreed to buy up to 60 million gallons of biodiesel per year from Mission NewEnergy, which will blend with its regular diesel in order to satisfy new federal requirements.

60 million gallons of B100 FAME biodiesel per year produce 6 million gallons of glycerine waste by product  (10%).

This is  ( 6 million x $3.00 / gallon )  $18 million dollar lost in fuel revenue.

This is a $90 million dollar lost over the 5 year 60 million gallons of biodiesel per year Valero contract.

Ethyl Acetate is a Precursor to Ethanol. Zeachem produces Ethyl Acetate one step before Ethanol.

Zeachem Process The acetic acid is converted to an Ester of Ethanol - Ethyl Acetate which can then be reacted with hydrogen to make Ethanol.
